On April 10, 2021 Officer S P Wareham was dispatched to the scene of an accident on Holtzclaw Road, west of Hyacinth Way.
A Nissan Truck SWB driven by Mr. J Carlos Flores was traveling southwest on Holtzclaw Road at 04:45 when he hit a cow which was standing in the road.
The black cow had blended in with the road surface which was unlit at that point and the driver was unable to stop in time.
Mr. Flores contacted the homeowner, who sent her son, Mr. D H Gravitt, to check on the cow’s status. The animal was found to be deceased in the tree line along Holtzclaw Road at the scene of the collision.
Mr. Gravitt verified that the cow belonged to them by identifying the #13 white ear tag as theirs.
On discovering that five other cows were also missing from their penned pasture, the Mr. Gravitt secured them when Sgt. D Bleisath located them southwest of the accident scene.
Mr. Flores’ vehicle sustained extensive damage, but he did not sustain any personal injury. The vehicle was removed by Lanier Towing.
The weather was cloudy, and the surface condition was good.
The accident was reported in Forsyth County.
