On April 4, 2021 Officer W P Nelson was dispatched to the scene of an accident at Interstate I-285WB east of New Northside.
A Hyundai Elantra driven by Ms. M Scott, a Chrysler 200 driven by Mr. M Shaw, a Mazda 3I driven by Ms. H Armstrong and a Toyota Rav4 driven by Mr. S Howe were involved in an accident traveling westbound on I-285WB at 22:00.
Ms. Scott stated that both her rear tires blew out on the highway after driving over debris in the road. Ms. Scott switched on her hazard lights but Mr. Shaw who was also in lane #2 did not see that Ms. Scott’s vehicle had stopped. He unsuccessfully attempted to take evasive action but was unable to avoid hitting her from behind.
Ms. Amstrong, whose vehicle was in lane #3, stated that a tire flew off one of the vehicles and struck her vehicle. She had also run over debris on the roadway.
Mr. Howe was in lane #4 when the front grill of his vehicle was struck by debris from the accident. He too had run over debris in the roadway.
Ms. Scott and a passenger, Ms. E Shaw complained of injuries but declined medical treatment.
As no-one was found to be the cause of the accident, no citations were issued.
The accident was reported at Sandy Springs, Fulton County.
