Left Hand Turn at the Intersection of SR 120 and 316 Leads to an Accident (Lawrenceville)
On July 05, 2021, Officer N Norton was dispatched to the scene of an accident at the intersection of Duluth Highway and SR 316 West.
The accident occurred at 17:37.
Mr. O Clarke was driving a Mercedes Benz C280, and Mr. O Velasquez was driving a Ford F250.
Mr. Clarke was traveling west on Duluth Highway when he attempted to make a left turn onto SR 316 West without ensuring it was safe to do so.
Mr. Velasquez was traveling east on Duluth Highway approaching the intersection with SR316 West.
As Mr. Clarke’s vehicle turned across Mr. Velasquez’ vehicle, he could not avoid a collision and Mr. Velasquez’ front bumper struck the front passenger side quarter panel of Mr. Clarke’s vehicle.
Mr. Clarke exited and abandoned his vehicle and let the scene on foot.
Mr. Clarke’s attorney Mr. M Crosby signed for three citations in terms of O.C.G.A. 40-6-71 “Failure to yield right of way”, O.C.G.A. 40-6-270 “Hit and run” and O.C.G.A. 40-5-20(a) “Driving without a valid license”.
The weather, surface condition and light conditions were all good.
