On May 19, 2021 Officer J Cumbie was dispatched to the scene of an accident at the intersection of Scenic Highway and Jackson Street.
The accident occurred at 08.35.
Mr. C Steele was driving a Ford 150 Supercrew truck and Mr. S Gibbs was driving a Chevrolet Suburban C1500 while towing a trailer.
Mr. Gibbs was traveling on Scenic Highway.
He had stopped in the left turning lane to turn into Jackson Street.
While he was stationary, Mr. Steele attempted to pass Mr. Gibbs on the left.
As he did so, he struck Mr. Gibbs’ trailer, causing minor damage to the left taillight on the driver’s side.
Mr. Steele did not stop and left the scene of the accident.
It is believed that Mr. Steele was unaware that he had struck the trailer.
Mr. Gibbs took a photo of Mr. Steele’s vehicle tag.
The officer contacted Mr. Steele and he stated that he would contact Mr. Gibbs to arrange repairs to the trailer light.
Mr Steele stated that he did not know that he had struck the trailer.
Mr. Steele was suspected to be at fault for the accident but was not cited.
The weather was cloudy, and the surface condition and light condition were both good.
The accident was reported in Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County.
