Accident on Crogan Street when Man Attempts to Park (Lawrenceville)

On May 25, 2021, Officer N Norton was dispatched to the scene of an accident at the intersection of West Crogan Street east of South Perry Street.

The accident occurred at 20:00.

Mr. W Powell was driving a Cadillac Escalade ESV P and Mr. E Mbapeh was driving a Honda Accord EX.

Mr. Powell was traveling east on West Crogan Street looking for a parking spot.

Mr. Mbapeh ‘s vehicle was in a parking spot on the south side of West Crogan Street between South Perry Street and North Clayton Street.

Mr. Powell located a parking space on the south side of West Crogan Street adjacent to Mr. Mbapeh’s vehicle.

As Mr. Powell attempted to park his vehicle in the vacant space, he misjudged the clearance and struck Mr. Mbapeh’s vehicle on the driver’s rear quarter panel with his passenger front quarter panel.

Slight damage was caused to both vehicles, and both were removed by their respective drivers.

Mr. Powell admitted fault at the scene of the accident and was cited in terms of O.C.G.A. 40-6-200 “Improper parking”.

The weather, surface conditions and light conditions were all good.

The accident was reported in Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County.
