On April 20, 2021, Officer D Castaneda was dispatched to the scene of an accident on the East West Connector west of Brookwood Drive.
A Honda Accord driven by Mr. N Reed, a Honda CRV driven by Mr. A Channel and a Chevrolet Equinox driven by Mr. J Penja were involved in a collision.
Mr. Penja was stopped in traffic eastbound on the East west Connector when his vehicle was rear-ended by Mr. Channel’s vehicle. Mr. Channel was coming to a stop when his vehicle was rear-ended by Mr. Reed’s vehicle.
Mr. Reed advised that he applied his brakes but was unable to stop before colliding with Mr. Channel’s rear bumper, causing him to collide with Mr. Penja’s rear bumper.
Mr. Reed complained of injury but was not transported for treatment.
Both Mr. Reed’s and Mr. Channel’s vehicles sustained extensive damage and were removed by Henson’s Wrecker while Mr. Penja’s vehicle sustained slight damage.
The weather was cloudy, but the surface condition and light condition was good.
Mr. Reed was cited in terms of O.C.G.A. 40-6-49 (A) “Following Too Closely”.
The accident was reported by the Cobb County Police Department.
