Confusing Turn Signal Leads to an Accident on Gwinnett Driver (Lawrenceville)
On April 26, 2021 Officer G Sampson was dispatched to the scene of an accident in Gwinnett Drive south of S.R. 20 (Grayson Highway).
A Mini Cooper driven by Ms. K Smith and a Nissan Rogue drive by Mr. J Ekwue were involved in a collision.
Ms. Smith was exiting a parking lot driveway intending to turn right.
Mr. Ekwue was traveling northbound on Gwinnett Drive and had his turn signal activated.
Ms. Smith assumed Mr. Ekwue would turn into the parking lot and exited the driveway.
Mr. Ekwue did not turn into the driveway and Ms. Smith’s vehicle stuck the right rear wheel of Mr. Ekwue’s vehicle.
There was moderate damage to Ms. Smith’s vehicle and no visible damage to Mr. Ekwue’s vehicle.
The weather, surface conditions and light conditions were good.
Both vehicles were removed from the scene by their respective drivers.
No injuries were reported.
Ms. Smith was cited in terms of O.C.G.A. “Failure to Yield”.
The accident was reported in Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County.
