Driver Runs Red Light on Windy Hill Road in Smyrna

In the early hours on the morning of March 6, 2021, Officer M R Umana was dispatched to the scene of an accident at S Cobb Drive southeast and Windy Hill Road southeast.


A Chevrolet Traverse driven by Mr. Janari Reynold-Oliver and a Ford Fusion driven by Mr. Clay Calhoun collided at the intersection of those two roads.


Mr. Janari Reynold-Oliver was traveling south on S Cobb Drive in the inside lane


and Mr. Clay was traveling west on Windy Hill Road. Mr. Janari Reynold-Oliver’s vehicle struck that of Mr Calhoun when he failed to observe the red traffic signal at the intersection.


A witness to the incident, Mr. Andreas Greene, who was traveling behind Mr. Calhoun, confirmed that he observed Mr. Janari Reynold-Oliver’s vehicle not stopping at the red traffic signal.


Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and Mr. Calhoun’s side air bag was deployed. This vehicle was removed from the scene by Barrows Wrecker Service. The Chevrolet was removed from the scene by the driver.


Mr. Janari Reynold-Oliver sustained slight damage to his left elbow and received on-scene medical attention. Mr. Calhoun was unhurt.


Mr. Janari Reynold-Oliver was cited in terms of O.C.G.A. 40-6-20: Failure to obey traffic control device.
