Emergency Vehicles at Tara Blvd Leads to an Accident (Jonesboro)

On June 28, 2021, Officer S Justus was dispatched to the scene of an accident at the intersection of Tara Boulevard and Fayetteville Drive.

The accident occurred at 19:25.

Mr. J West was driving a Chevrolet Impala Premier and Ms. J Jackson was driving an Isuzu Ascender.

Both vehicles were traveling north on Tara Boulevard near Fayetteville Road.

Mr. West stated that his vehicle was behind Ms. Jackson’s vehicle as the traffic signal changed from red to green.

Mr. West further stated that Ms. Jackson began moving her vehicle forward but stopped suddenly in the roadway.

Mr. West then rear-ended Ms. Jackson’s vehicle.

Ms. Jackson stated that as the traffic signal changed from red to green, she heard sirens and observed a fire truck and ambulance, and she yielded to give them right of way.

Ms. Jackson further stated that Mr. West rear-ended her vehicle.

Mr. West sand a witness, Mr. G Wiley both stated that they heard sirens but did not see a fire truck or ambulance.

Neither driver sustained any injuries.

Both vehicles sustained slight damage and were removed by their respective drivers.

Mr. West was cited in terms of O.C.G.A. 40-6-49 “Following too closely”.

The weather was cloudy, the surface condition was wet, and the light condition was daylight.

The accident was reported in Jonesboro, Clayton County.
