On July 24, 2021, Officer D Garrett was dispatched to the scene of an accident at Cherokee Boulevard south of Big B Road.
The accident occurred at 06:19.
Mr. D Rogers was driving a Chevrolet PT Cruiser.
He stated that he hit a rough patch of road and lost control of his vehicle and left the road. He further stated that the vehicle’s back right tire was not in good condition.
As he turned back to the roadway, he thought he saw another vehicle, so he turned back towards the grass shoulder.
His flat tire then caused him to further lose control of the vehicle and hit a fire hydrant.
The officer observed the marks in the grass where the vehicle had left the road. The officer further noted that the tires had adequate tread and no blowout was indicated.
The height difference of 3” – 4” between the roadway and the shoulder caused the tire to go flat.
Mr. Rogers sustained minor injuries and his vehicle sustained extensive damage and was removed by a private wrecking company.
The weather and surface conditions were good, and the light condition was at dawn.
The accident was reported in Douglasville, Douglas County.
