Rear-End Collision on I-985 SB Off-Ramp at Phil Nierro Blvd / Spout Springs Area

Location: I-985 Southbound Off-Ramp at Phil Nierro Blvd / Spout Springs Road, Flowery Branch A rear-end collision occurred around 3:37 PM when traffic was stopped at a red light on the off-ramp.

Driver 2 was stopped in traffic at the red light when Driver 1, who was behind her, struck the rear of her vehicle. Driver 1 stated he thought the light had changed and misjudged the traffic ahead. Driver 2 reported her neck was hurting from the impact but declined on-scene EMS. No other injuries were reported.

Both vehicles were driven from the scene. Driver 1 was issued a citation for Following Too Closely. The incident was captured on the responding officer’s bodycam and dashcam.

Contributing Factors: Following too closely / inattention in queued traffic.

Injuries: Minor (neck pain reported by Driver 2).

Damage: Functional damage to both vehicles.
