Intersection of Hwy 5 and I-20 WB the Site of Accident (Douglasville)

On March 18th 2025, Robert Nelson and Perkelish Buchanan were involved in an automobile accident on Highway 5 at its intersection with I-20 WB in Douglasville.

Nelson stated that he was waiting to make a left turn to get onto I-20 WB from Highway 5. He stated that while he was waiting to make the turn, he noticed the lane was backed up and was unable to see oncoming traffic. He could only see a large truck whose driver was giving a signal to turn into the next lane. As he was making his turn, Buchanan's vehicle was traveling down that lane and both cars collided causing Nelson's vehicle to roll over. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage from the accident.

Nelson was determined to be at fault for the accident and was cited with Improper Turn and Misjudged Clearance.
