ITCHY AND SCRATCHY

On June 7, 2021, Officer C Tongate was dispatched to the scene of an accident at the intersection of Veterans Memorial Highway and Highway 5.

The accident occurred at 15:28.

Ms. C Jones was driving a Toyota Corolla, Mr. R Cox was driving a Chevrolet Equinox and Ms. L Brown was driving a Mazda 3 Touring.

All three vehicles were traveling east on Veterans Memorial Highway.

Ms. Jones stated that she was looking at and scratching a rash on her left hand. She did not notice that Mr. Cox’s vehicle had stopped in front of her, and her vehicle rear-ended his vehicle.

Mr. Cox stated that he had stopped as Ms. Brown’s vehicle was stopped in front of his.

When Ms. Jones rear-ended his vehicle, he was pushed into the rear of Ms. Brown’s vehicle.

Ms. Brown stated that a vehicle had stopped abruptly in front of her, and she had applied her brakes to stop.

She corroborated that Mr. Cox’s vehicle was pushed into the rear of her vehicle.

Ms. Jones complained of neck and back pain but refused EMS.

Mr. Cox complained of pain in his right hand, and it was apparent that his fingers had been broken. He was transported to Wellstar Douglas Hospital by Rescue 11.

Ms. Brown did not sustain any injury.

Ms. Jones’ vehicle was removed from the scene by private wrecking company, Wheelers, Mr. Cox’s vehicle was removed from the scene by Priest Towing, and Ms. Brown removed her own vehicle from the scene.

The weather was cloudy and the surface and light conditions were good.

The accident was reported in Douglasville, Douglas County.
