Man Driving Jetta Drives Too Fast, Leaves Roadway (Forsyth)

On May 22, 2021, Officer S C Hollis was dispatched to the scene of an accident at the intersection of Lakeside Way and Resort Circle.

The accident occurred at 03:11.

Mr. R Atkins was driving a Volkswagen Jetta eastbound on Lakeside Way at its eastmost intersection with Resort Circle.

He was driving too fast for the conditions and failed to maintain his lane.

He traveled onto the westbound shoulder of Lakeside Way where his vehicle struck a stop sign before hitting a large rock.

He then came to a stop on the north shoulder of the roadway.

Mr. Atkins left the scene and did not report the crash.

However, he was identified and located.

Mr. Atkins vehicle sustained moderate damage, but he was not injured.

Warrants of arrest were issued in terms of O.C.G.A. 40-5-121 “Driving while licence suspended, O.C.G.A. 40-6-48 “Failure to maintain lane” and O.C.G.A. 40-6-27 “Failing to report striking a fixed object”.

The weather and surface conditions were good, and the light condition was dark: not lighted.

The accident was reported in Forsyth County.
