On June 7, 2021, Officer D D Evans was dispatched to the scene of an accident at Lake Park Drive SE west of Cobb Parkway SE.
The accident occurred at 09:54.
Mr. E Summers was driving a Kia Soul and Ms. R Skaar was driving a Subaru Forester.
Mr. Summers stated that he was attempting to cross Lake Park Drive to enter the Courtland Village apartment complex.
As he began to cross, he did not see Ms. Skaar’s vehicle exit the curve at the entrance to the apartment complex.
Ms. Skaar was traveling east on Lake Park Drive towards Cobb Parkway.
She stated that she saw Mr. Summers’ vehicle enter the roadway and that it did not appear that he was going to stop.
Ms. Skaar attempted to swerve to avoid a collision, but Mr. Summers’ vehicle struck the driver’s rear side of her vehicle.
Mr. Summers was cited in terms of O.C.G.A. T40-6-73 “Failure to yield right of way”.
Slight damage was caused to both vehicles, which were removed by their respective drivers.
The weather was cloudy, surface conditions were wet, and light condition was good.
The accident was reported in Smyrna, Cobb County.
