On August 13, 2025, a collision occurred on Fayetteville Rd near Mundy’s Mill Rd in Clayton County, Georgia, involving Reese Neelly, 40, driving a 2017 Ford Fusion, and Alec Franklin, a law enforcement officer in a 2025 Ford Explorer.
Neelly, fleeing from police, drove eastbound in the westbound lanes in a stolen vehicle. Franklin, in a marked police vehicle with active lights and sirens, executed a successful PIT maneuver, striking the rear passenger side of Neelly’s car with the front driver’s side of his vehicle. Neelly’s car spun clockwise, coming to rest facing west on the concrete median, ending the pursuit. Neelly was taken into custody and treated for minor injuries at Piedmont Fayette by Clayton County EMS. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage, with no injuries reported for Franklin.
The incident was documented by Officer Thomas of the Georgia State Patrol, with photos taken by Fayette County Crime Scene. The cause of the accident was Neelly’s reckless flight from law enforcement, culminating in the intentional PIT maneuver by Franklin to halt the chase.
