On April 5, 2021 Officer M H Hashmi was dispatched to the scene of an accident at the intersection of Hammond Drive and Concourse Parkway.
An Infiniti Q50 Premium driven Mr. C Lee by and a Ford Transit ambulance driven Mr. J Meindl were involved in a collision.
Mr. Meindl stated that as he left the premises of 1050 Hammond Drive, he was turning left onto Hammond Drive eastbound. The emergency lights and siren were activated. As he entered the intersection of Hammond Drive and Concourse Parkway, Mr. Lee ‘s vehicle entered his lane, causing a collision.
A witness to the incident, Mr. J Snead, confirmed that the ambulance had its emergency equipment activated and that it had cleared the intersection when Mr. Lee’s vehicle entered the lane and caused the collision. This was confirmed by dash-cam footage obtained from the ambulance.
Mr. Lee stated that the traffic control device was green in his favour on Hammond Drive westbound, and that he did not see or hear the ambulance when he entered the same lane. The passenger in Mr. Lee’s vehicle, Ms. H Wilburn stated that the ambulance had its emergency equipment activated but that it entered the intersection causing the incident. Ms. Wilburn complained of injury and was transported to North Fulton Hospital by AMR.
Mr. Lee was found to be at fault and was cited in terms of O.C.G.A. 40-6-74 “Failure to yield to emergency vehicle”.
The accident was reported at Sandy Springs, Fulton County.
