Accident on Old Norcross Rd and Montford Rd (Lawrenceville)

On July 31, 2021, Officer J Woody was dispatched to the scene of an accident at the intersection of Old Norcross Road and Montford Road.

The accident occurred at 12:46.

Mr. C Pittman was driving a Volvo VHD and Mr. J Castrolazo was driving a Dodge Grand Caravan.

Mr. Pittman stated that he was traveling east on Old Norcross Road approaching the intersection with Montford Road.

Mr. Pittman further stated that he checked his mirrors and when he looked back at the roadway, Mr. Castrolazo’s vehicle was in his path.

Mr. Pittman’s vehicle front bumper then struck Mr. Castrolazo’s vehicle left side.

Mr. Pittman was unable to confirm what color the traffic signal was at the intersection.

A witness to the incident, Mr. B Holloway stated that he was in his vehicle in the left turn lane on Raco Drive to turn into Old Norcross Road.

Mr. Holloway further stated that Mr. Castrolazo’s vehicle was in the left turn lane from Montfort Road to turn left into Old Norcross Road and that the traffic signal was green in Mr. Castrolazo’s favor.

Mr. Holloway further stated that Mr. Pittman failed to stop at the traffic signal that was red for him.

Mr. Castrolazo was unable to confirm any details as he was unsure what had happened.

Mr. Castrolazo sustained visible injury and was transported to Northside Hospital by Med20 personnel.

Mr. Pittman did not sustain any injury.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and were removed by Lance Wrecker.

Mr. Pittman was cited in terms of O.C.G.A. 40-6-20 “Failure to obey traffic control device”.

The weather, surface conditions and light condition were all good.

The accident was reported in Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County.
